By Dominican College
Pupils from Dominican College, Fortwilliam, Belfast created this display in response to learning about the heroes of the Holocaust. This was a joint project between the RE and Art departments.
RE and Art departments worked together in response to hearing life stories from the Holocaust including the story about the White Rose group of students and a professor from Munich. They risked their lives publishing and distributing leaflets. They asked the German people to react to the violence and oppression which were all around them by standing up and fighting for freedom. The display contains both information explaining the Holocaust and more recent atrocities and also a collection of prayers. It has a beautiful border of white paper roses which each has the name of a victim attached.
We chose this as we felt this story expressed the theme of Don’t stand by.
