I used the HMDT logo as a template and then filled it with quotes of those who didn’t stand by, or who were helped by someone who didn’t stand by. The artwork includes quotes from Lily Ebert, Sir Nicholas Winton, Rudolf Brazda and Elie Wiesel. The quotes aren’t accompanied by the name of the speaker to outline the possibility that everyone has the capability to stand up for what is right.
Megan is a HMDT Youth Champion.
My name is Megan Auld and I am a 17 year old A-level student from Manchester. I was first introduced to the Youth Champion Programme with a group of people from my college last year. I love the Youth Champion Programme, I believe that making use of the younger generations in trying to raise awareness of all that HMDT stands for is fantastic. I was inspired to take part in the arts project as I think it is a wonderful way of raising the profile of this year’s message: Don’t Stand By. It is relevant both in remembering the Holocaust and in the present day. I think it is a wonderful message and this arts project helps to get it across to people from all walks of life and of all ages.
